Motorcycle Accident Injures Man In Springfield, Mass.

A motorcycle accident in Springfield Mass. seriously injures 


Springfield Police Lt. Henry Gagnon told 22News the accident happened just after three o'clock this morning on the corner of Main and Gardner Streets in Springfield's South End.  A Honda Accord was making a right hand turn onto Main Street.  The motorcyclist tried to pass the accord and crashed.
Officer Ed Hiney told 22News, the man riding the motorcycle is in critical condition and still in the operating room at Baystate Medical Center. The driver of the car was a woman. She was hurt, but refused treatment.

Staten Island Motorcycle Accident Injures NYPD Officer
An off duty NYPD officer suffered serious injuries in a collision on Staten Island this morning.  The motorcycle and a car collided on Richmond Terrace, near Snug Harbor Road, just after 9:30 a.m.  Authorities said the 40-year-old NYPD officer was traveling eastbound on Richmond Terrace on his motorcycle and collided with a 2009 Nissan that was traveling westbound, making a left hand turn onto Snugg Harbor.  The NYPD officer was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. He was listed in critical condition.  The 40-year-old NYPD officer, who's name is not being released, was the partner of an NYPD officer who was killed in Brooklyn in Nov 2005.  The driver of the vehicle was also injured. No details about his condition were released.  The cause of the crash is still under investigation and yet to be determined.
